A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §61-7-11b, relating to permitting the possession of firearms on the grounds of higher education institutions by all persons with valid licenses to carry a concealed deadly weapon.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

            That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §61-7-11b, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 7. DANGEROUS WEAPONS.

§61-7-11b. Possession of firearms.

            (a) Notwithstanding any provision of this code to the contrary, a person licensed to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to section four of this article seven who is not prohibited at the time from possessing a firearm pursuant to that section or by any applicable federal law may posses firearms on the grounds of institutions of higher education.

            (b) For the purposes of this section possession shall be broadly construed to include cased weapons and the carrying of firearms by all persons with valid licenses to carry a concealed deadly weapon pursuant to section four of this article.


            NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to permit the possession of firearms on the grounds of higher education institutions by all persons with valid licenses to carry a concealed deadly weapon.
