AN ACT
1Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, providing for the offense of
3undetectable firearms.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8§ 6143. Undetectable firearms.
9(a) Offense defined.--It shall be unlawful for a person to
10manufacture, import, sell, ship, deliver, possess, transfer or
11receive a firearm which meets any of the following:
12(1) After removal of grips, stocks and magazines, is not
13detectable by walk-through metal detectors.
14(2) A major component of which, when subject to
15inspection by the types of X-ray machines commonly used at
16airports, does not generate an image that accurately depicts
17the shape of the component.
1(b) Penalty.--An offense under this section constitutes a
2felony of the third degree.
3(c) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
4words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
5subsection:
6"Major component." With respect to a firearm, any of the
7following:
8(1) The barrel.
9(2) The slide or cylinder.
10(3) The frame or receiver.
11Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
