1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 97B.015, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.7    Subdivision 1. Establishment. The commissioner shall establish a statewide course
1.8in the safe use of firearms and identification of wild mammals and birds. A course may
1.9be held in a school district. The courses must be conducted by the commissioner in
1.10cooperation with other organizations. The courses must instruct youths in commonly
1.11accepted principles of safety in hunting and handling common hunting firearms and
1.12identification of various species of wild mammals and birds by sight and other unique
1.13characteristics. The course must include information on the use of alternative ammunition.
