Amends the Firearm Dealer License Certification Act. Provides that an inspection of a licensee's place of business may only be completed after business hours. Provides that an inspection shall not interfere with the business transactions occurring in the store. Provides that if a law enforcement officer is assigned to a business for inspection, the owner of the business has the right to prohibit the officer from returning to the store as a customer.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Firearm Dealer License Certification Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 5-35 as follows:
|
6 | | (430 ILCS 68/5-35)
|
7 | | Sec. 5-35. Inspection of licensees' places of business.
|
8 | | Licensees shall have their places of business open for
|
9 | | inspection by the Illinois State Police and law enforcement |
10 | | during all
hours of operation involving the selling, leasing, |
11 | | or otherwise transferring of firearms, provided that the |
12 | | Illinois State Police or law
enforcement may conduct no more |
13 | | than one unannounced inspection
per business per year without |
14 | | good cause. During an inspection, licensees
shall make all |
15 | | records, documents, and firearms accessible for
inspection |
16 | | upon the request of the Illinois State Police or law

17 | | enforcement agency. |
18 | | An inspection may only be completed after business hours. |
