REP. SAMPSON, 80th Dist. |
AN ACT REMOVING VOLUNTARY ADMISSION TO A HOSPITAL FOR PSYCHIATRIC DISABILITIES AS A REASON TO DENY A FIREARM PERMIT OR CERTIFICATE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That sections 17a-500, 17a-506a, 29-28, 29-36f, 29-37p, 29-38b, 53a-217 and 53a-217c of the general statutes be amended to remove the provisions that make a person who has been voluntary admitted to a hospital for persons with psychiatric disabilities not eligible for a firearm permit or certificate.
Statement of Purpose:
To encourage a person to voluntarily admit himself or herself to a hospital for psychiatric disabilities by not disqualifying such person from receiving a firearm permit or certificate based solely on such voluntary admission.
