AN ACT
Providing for transferring and renumbering; amending title 12, chapter 6, article 18, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 12‑781.01; relating to civil liability.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Heading change
The article heading of title 12, chapter 6, article 18, Arizona Revised Statutes, is changed from "FIREARMS STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION" to "FIREARMS AND WEAPONS".
Sec. 2. Transfer and renumber
Section 12-714, Arizona Revised Statutes, is transferred and renumbered for placement in title 12, chapter 6, article 18, Arizona Revised Statutes, as section 12‑781.02.
Sec. 3. Title 12, chapter 6, article 18, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 12‑781.01, to read:
12-781.01. Use of weapons outside gun‑free zones; exemption from civil liability; definition
A. Unless the person or entity intends to cause injury or acts with gross negligence, A person or entity is not liable in any civil action for damages that result from another person's use of a weapon in an area that is not a gun‑free zone.
B. For the purposes of this section, "gun‑free zone" means any building, place, area or curtilage that is open to the public, or in or on any public conveyance, and in which weapons are prohibited by the person or entity that manages or controls the building, place, area, curtilage or public conveyance unless the person or entity is required to prohibit weapons pursuant to a state or federal law.
