Legislation Overview
Title: FIREARM OWNERS ID-18 YRS
Description: Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that if an applicant for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card: (1) is 18 years of age or older but under 21 years of age, (2) is not an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces, and (3) does not have a parent or legal guardian to give written consent to his or her application, he or she must provide 2 signed, dated, and notarized personal references regarding his or her suitability to possess firearms and a signed, dated, and notarized statement detailing the reasons he or she does not have a parent or legal guardian. Provides that, if applicable, the applicant must provide death certificates or any applicable court orders regarding his or her circumstances resulting in his or her lack of a parent or legal guardian.
