Still one of the best!
One of the best, steadfast, big, outdoor ranges, just on the outskirts of the Phoenix metro. Although I'm not the hugest fan of outdoor ranges this is probably one of the better examples thereof. Ample hours, good coverage by range masters, well kept up and although probably one the most well known outdoor ranges of the area it is usually well organized enough that you don't have problems getting an opportunity to shoot. Great place for a group, whether it's a few friends, a club or an organization (we've taken Boy Scouts out there a few times). Granted, I don't find the "shoot, wait, go downrange, wait, shoot..." to be quite as enjoyable as the indoor ranges with electronically controlled targets but it is standard fare for most outdoor ranges. Also, given this is Arizona, you won't find it as enjoyable in the hotter months. All in all a great range though and worth the bit of a drive to get there!

Ben Avery
I like this facility, but I'm just not the biggest fan of outdoor shooting ranges. However, it is well managed and the facilities are well kept under the circumstances. (It's a bit tough to shoot outdoors during the summers in Arizona when it's 115 degrees outside.) inn the plus side, the do offer several types of shooting (clay target, long range, FITA range, archery, etc.) that you probably won't find at any indoor range. I do use Ben Avery (and recommend them) when my local indoor range gets busy and I really don't have any commplaints to speak of.
